Apple expected to launch newest generation device on March 7

It looks like Apple fans are in for a treat next week. Earlier today, the company sent out invitations to a special event in San Francisco on March 7, where it's widely expected that Apple will unveil the next generation iPad.
Featuring an image of an iPad, the invitation says, "We have something you really have to see. And touch."
For months, the tech world has been speculating about the new iPad's new features. Some suspect that it could be called iPad HD (instead of iPad 3) to underscore a potentially higher resolution screen.
In a note to investors, Gene Munster, a senior research analystat Piper Jaffray, said he expects the newiPad to have a high-resolution "retina" display, faster graphics andprocessing, and 4G LTE wireless connectivity. (He also said Applecould name the new device the iPad 4G to highlight the fasterconnectivity.)
According to a Wall Street Journal report earlier this month, Apple may also be testing a device with a smaller screen to help it compete against rivals like Amazon and Samsung.  Other Apple-centric blogs have floated the possibility of a slightly thicker iPad(which could suggest better battery performance or more powerful components), enhanced graphics and a faster processor.
Munster also said it's possible that Apple could announce an updated Apple TV set-top-box at next week's event since Apple TV can wirelessly stream video from the iPad.
Apple shares edged up slightly on the news of the announcement, rising about 1.4 percent to about $533.
