Sony Mobile is understood to be looking for a global creative agency in a bid to raise the profile of all functions within this area, especially online.
A spokeswoman for Sony Mobile declined to elaborate on who was on the shortlist or when a decision would be reached.
However, she said: "“We continue to review and evolve our global agency network to meet our strategic objectives. After recently announcing the latest additions to our premium Z series line - Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z2 Tablet, we've got ambitious plans for 2014.
At present, we're looking to grow our agency roster to further the expansion of our global marketing programme, particularly across creative product asset production.”
Sony Mobile awarded its global advertising business to Adam & Eve/DDB in May 2013 after a competitive pitch. This relationship will not be affected by the ongoing pitch.
Last month, the agency was also appointed to the Sony Electronics ad account.
