Ray-Ban sunglasses has inked a deal with Google to design and develop glasses using the Google Glass technology.
Google Glass, a stamp-sized screen attached to a pair of eyeglass frames, allows users to record video, access email and get information from the web when connected wirelessly to a mobile phone.
Under the terms of the deal, the Ray-Ban-owned Luxottica brand, will customise and tailor glasses for discerning users as the Glass gains wider usage. The first products are expected to be released in 2015.
Luxottica Chief Executive Officer, Andrea Guerra said: "We believe that a strategic partnership with a leading player like Google is the ideal platform for developing a new way forward in our industry and answering the evolving needs of consumers on a global scale."
