Sotheby’s Auction House hosted the Africa Foundation’s second annual Art For Africa gala dinner and auction preview on 12 October.
The evening acted as a first glance at the 52 works donated by leading African and American artists to the Art For Africa Auction to be held on Thursday 17 November.
Guests included visual artists Kehinde Wiley and Caio Fonseca, legendary photographer Peter Beard, Archie Panjabi from The Good Wife and the designer Nicole Mellon. The crowd dined and danced for a good cause with the proceeds going toward the Africa Foundation’s projects supporting orphaned and disenfranchised children living in rural communities in South and Eastern Africa. The evening raised US$180,000 inlcuding a US$100,000 cheque from art collector Audrey Irmas.
