Every
famous brand has a fashion logo we recognize it by. Usually it is small and simple
but some logos are elaborate and mysterious. Now I am going to tell you the
history of logos of a few most significant world fashion houses.
Lacoste is an old and reputable
brand. Their logo – the tiny green alligator – is known to everyone who likes
fashion. In 1933 Jean Rene Lacoste founded a company that produced tennis
shirts. A tennis player himself Jean Rene had a sports nickname Alligator. One
of his friends drew a picture of little crocodile just for fun. But soon that
became the logo of the brand which is now known to everyone.
Fendi. Two
reverse-reading F letters are often compared to a puzzle, so intricate the
Fendi logo looks. It was Karl Lagerfeld who invented the logo for the fashion
house founded by spouses Edward and Adele Fendi. The beautiful logo is now a
favorite print in Fendi colletions. It is featured on majority of designs:
clothing, belt buckles, handbags, sunglasses, etc.
Chanel logo features interlocking back-to-back, overlapping double C. The
famous logo was first introduced to the fashion world in 1925. It was featured
on a bottle of Chanel #5 perfume. Soon after that it was used everywhere.
There are a
few versions giving the history of the logo. According to the one of those
Mikhail Vrubel was the very person who in 1886 depicted two horseshoes that
resembled the modern Chanel logo. Other story says that two crossed horseshoes
are just a symbol of success and luck. However, we believe, that the logo
comprises the initials of Coco Chanel – the founder of the French designer
house.
Calvin
Klein brand was established on November 19, 1942. The logo had been invented at
the same time but for some reason it first became public only 30 years later
when the designer launched a jean line. The logo was placed on a back pocket of
every pair. The company logo – CK – is easy to remember and associate with the
brand. Soon the logo was used not only for recognizing the label but for
surfing through collections. The logo of dark color is used on Haute Couture
clothing, grey logo is for regular garments while the white logo is for
sportswear.
